Cabinets experiencing challenges
These cabinets are currently experiencing some challenges and are being worked on daily to be resolved. They are also treated as a priority within the project.
Narborough 37 (parts of Narborough) – there are issues with the main fibre network connection meaning that this cabinet is not yet connected. Engineers continue to work to resolve the connection problems. We are hoping to get this cabinet live in the next few months.
Rearsby 1 (Thrussington) – issues in placing the fibre cables underground meant that a new plan had to be put in place. We’ve started working on the changes and are aiming for completed delivery within six months if everything goes well. We will continue to provide updates as the engineering works progress.
Please be aware that these dates are subject to change depending on the individual situation.

Cabinets stood
Cabinets stood refers to the fibre cabinets that are now in place, ready to be connected. In most cases these are placed next to the existing green roadside box in your village. The new cabinet will house all the fibre connections; with the existing green box retaining the copper telephone lines. The two are then joined together.
- Great Glen 8 (Great Glen)
- Bottesford 7 (Muston)
- Market Bosworth 3 (Cadeby)
- Maket Bosworth 4 (Carlton)
- Sileby 5 (Sileby)
- Sileby 10 (Sileby)
Connecting champions

Alistair Langham / The Studio 17 / Holwell gets superfast broadband… Holwell village Digital Champion Simon Wilkinson-Blake adds a sticker to the box
Recently, residents in Holwell, near Melton, campaigned successfully for faster speeds in their village. Simon Wilkinson-Blake, who led the campaign, said: “Using the internet was often difficult, with households having to limit themselves to one application at a time. Now we have fibre broadband, some residents who have upgraded have seen over a twenty-fold increase in speeds.”
We are hoping to recruit more champions like Simon. To find out what it involves read his testimony online here.
