Voucher success in Leicestershire
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport have two great voucher schemes on offer for Leicestershire residents wanting to increase their broadband speeds.
The Rural Gigabit Voucher Scheme and the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme both offer residents and businesses vouchers to cover the cost of upgrading to an ultra-fast gigabit broadband network.
The rural voucher scheme is aimed at properties and businesses in the rural locations across Leicestershire and the gigabit broadband vouchers is aimed at communities with local businesses as, though residents are encouraged to apply, the upgrade must benefit a business. Both vouchers are aimed at communities wanting to pool their vouchers together.
Over 200 vouchers have been paid out in Leicestershire and Leicester city since November 2018, with 100 vouchers in the pipeline to be sent to businesses and residents across the county who are eager to upgrade to gigabit speeds.
The Superfast Leicestershire team hope the communities that have already benefited are enjoying their new ultra-fast broadband connection.
The funding is not ring-fenced per area so the Superfast Leicestershire team are keen to promote the vouchers to Leicestershire residents and ensure that as many vouchers benefit the Leicestershire area as possible.
Applications for both schemes can be made through the official Gigabit Broadband Voucher website.
