Superfast Extension Programme – Public consultation launched
Leicestershire County Council has launched a public consultation to identify the areas in Leicester and Leicestershire that are eligible for public investment to deliver Next Generation broadband.
Following approval by Leicestershire County Council’s Cabinet for additional public investment the County Council has initiated a new procurement as part of the Government’s Phase 2 Superfast Extension Programme.
A key initial activity has been to engage with known local and national communications suppliers to understand their current and planned deployed. A number of suppliers responded to the Open Market Review and this detailed information has been used to develop state aid maps for Next Generation and Basic Broadband. These maps identify the proposed Intervention Area eligible for public investment.
The county council has now initiated a public consultation to finalise the Intervention Area. The consultation was launched on the 30th September and will close on the 31st October.
