Project update – 5 June 2015
Since the last update we have had some maintenance and changes to the Superfast Leicestershire website. Whilst we have been busy fixing this, the fibre team have been busy connecting even more cabinets!
Since the last project 10 cabinets went live enabling over 2,530 more homes and businesses across Leicestershire. If you want to be the first to hear about the latest project progress sign up to our emails here.

- Cabinet 6 on the DESFORD exchange
- Cabinet 13 on the EARL SHILTON exchange
- Cabinets 1,2,5 & 38 on the MARKET BOSWORTH exchange
- Cabinet 4 on the TWYCROSS exchange
- Cabinet 13 on the EAST WIGSTON exchange
- Cabinet 34 on the OADBY exchange
Hallaton – Medbourne Road (Hallaton)
Desford – Dragon Lane (Newbold Verdon)
Earl Shilton – Mill St Wensleydale Ave jcn (Barwell)

Please be aware that as cabinets go live they take a couple of weeks before you will be able to order the fibre broadband. Providers can sometimes take time to become available on the fibre network. To get the best deal wait 2-3 weeks when the market is more competitive. Find out more on our FAQ pages.
Cabinets encountering problems:
Leire 5 (Claybrooke Magna) – The remaining cabinet on the Leire exchange, covering Claybrooke Magna (the Ullesthorpe cabinet is part of the Superfast Extension Programme) has been worked on for the past few weeks. There have been some challenges deploying this cabinet – primarily blockages from silt and tree roots in the underground duct. In some instances brute force can be exerted to unblock the underground ducting. Unfortunately this has not been possible in this case and civils work is required in Frolesworth Lane.
In most instances such civils work can be managed with temporary traffic lights and the road can remain open. Frolesworth Lane is so narrow that a full road closure will be required for 2 nights. Despite being a minor road a full consultation, diversion and legal noticing is required. Openreach has been keen to start early on the project but unfortunately this is a legal Highways requirement which cannot be negotiated.
Openreach has issued all required noticing and Leicestershire County Council Highways are processing this now. We expect that this will delay deployment by at least 8-12 weeks
Stoke Golding 7 (Higham on the Hill) – BT engineers are still investigating the problems and hope to have some more information for us soon.
