Cabinets encountering problems:
Nether Broughton 3 & 6 (Old Dalby, Ab Kettleby) – Working extremely hard over the past few weeks is starting to pay off. Engineers have been working around the clock to get the issues surrounding Nether Broughton 3 & 6 resolved. Fibre cable has been deployed to 13km of the route. We are now focussing on Melton Mowbray where we need to connect the fibre to the exchange. There is 400m of fibre left to deploy. Unfortunately, recent works by another utility company has damaged some of the Openreach ducts. Openreach has identified a different route to connect the fibre to the exchange within the town but unfortunately there are three blockages on this route. They are working with highways to gain emergency permission to excavate and unblock these locations. Ideally, this will be undertaken this week and next week. Once the full fibre cable has been deployed and connected these two cabinets can be commissioned.
Bagworth 1, 3 & 5 (Thornton, Bagworth) – Bagworth is now steadily progressing. With many of the major issues out of the way the fibre cables have now been deployed. With over 276 cores in its network, Bagworth has the largest amount of fibre deployed into the ground. The Openreach engineers are currently working on securing the underground network and are hoping to be fully live in May 2015 when all 276 cables are connected. This will hopefully be sooner rather than later but we will keep you informed of the situation.
