Project update – 17 April 2015
Since the last update 4 cabinets went live enabling over 1,140 more homes and businesses across Leicestershire. If you want to be the first to hear about the latest project progress sign up to our emails here.
Cabinets now live:
- Cabinets 3 & 5 on the BAGWORTH exchange
- Cabinet 5 on the MEASHAM exchange
- Cabinet 1 on the HUSBANDS BOSWORTH exchange
Birstall – Main St (Bagworth) and Station Rd (Bagworth)
Measham – Church St/High St junction (Donisthorpe)
Husbands Bosworth – Station Rd (North Kilworth)
Cabinets encountering problems:
Nether Broughton 3 & 6 (Old Dalby, Ab Kettleby) – All of the spine fibre cable is now in and jointed. There are a couple of blockages on the final links between the cabinet and the fibre. This is predicated to take a couple of days. We are currently looking at the end of next week, beginning of the week after.
Bagworth 1 (Thornton) – This cabinet needed to be moved due to other utility networks in the area. A suitable position has now been found by Openreach and we hope that it will be connected at the latest, beginning of May.
Leire 5 (Claybrooke Magna) – Fibre has been blown (air pressure used to force fibre cables along the ducts) but there are a number of silt blockages between the main fibre network (spine) and the cabinet. We expect the work to take some time but we are hopeful to be live at the end of May.
Market Bosworth 5 (Barlestone) – This cabinet is linked directly to Bagworth. Now that the issues in Bagworth have been resolved we can continue in Barlestone. There is currently more of the main fibre network (spine) to be built so we expect the cabinet to be ready, at the earliest, at the end of June.
Stoke Golding 7 (Higham on the Hill) – Fibre was blown (air pressure used to force fibre cables along the ducts) but a blockage has prevented this from continuing. BT engineers are currently investigating the problem. Given the scale of the blockage they predict that it will be live at the beginning of June.
