Project update – 15 August 2016
The team have been working hard over the last couple of weeks to improve communications on the development of the project.
We are looking into updating the map as soon as we possibly can and we will keep you informed of the progress with this.
More plans are being made as we extend further into the county, and now city. This update shows more cabinets being stood and a few more becoming live.
Whilst we are working on an updated map we would encourage you to use the line checker to see if you’re already connected to fibre broadband.
Visit the ‘When and Where?’ page as the line checker is updated before anything else.

Cabinets now live
The following green cabinets (usually stood at the side of your road) are now enabled with fibre broadband meaning you should talk to your current communications provider about purchasing fibre or visit the Superfast Leicestershire website for more information on fibre broadband providers.
- Cabinets 1, 32 & 40 on the GOSCOTE exchange – The Warren(East Goscote), Winster Drive (Thurmaston) & Haddon Close (Syston)
- Cabinet 3 on the KEGWORTH exchange – High St, Kegworth
- Cabinet 4 on the MARKET BOSWORTH exchange – Main St, Carlton
- Cabinet 5 on the OVERSEAL exchange – Burton Rd, Acresford
Please be aware that as cabinets go live they can take a couple of weeks before you will be able to order the fibre broadband. Providers can sometimes also take time to become available on the fibre network. To get the best deal, wait 2-3 weeks when the market becomes more competitive.
To see if you can upgrade to fibre broadband now check out the When and Where? page.

Cabinets experiencing challenges
These cabinets are currently experiencing some challenges and are being worked on daily to be resolved. They are also treated as a priority within the project.
Narborough 37 (parts of Narborough) – there are issues with the main fibre network connection meaning that this cabinet is not yet connected. Engineers continue to work to resolve the connection problems. We are hoping to get this cabinet live in the next few months.
Rearsby 1 (Thrussington) – Various alternative plans have been considered. Openreach are currently reviewing a plan to re-route delivery to avoid the rail network crossing, the do-ability of this is being assessed.
Please be aware that these dates are subject to change depending on the individual situation.

Cabinets stood
This refers to the new green boxes which stand usually adjacent to the existing green roadside box in your village. The new cabinet will house all the fibre connections; the existing green box houses the copper telephone lines. The two are then joined together.
- Great Glen 9 (Wistow)
- Market Bosworth 12 & 13 (Sutton Cheney and Stapleton)
- Narborough 28 (Narborough)
